Revell's new 1/32 scale Heinkel He 162 is a terrific kit, but the distinctive ejection seat is a little simple as supplied, and that big wheel well is somewhat devoid of detail.

Aires has come to the rescue with not one, but the choice of two detail sets to address these issues and more.

Set Number 2027 comprises a full replacement cockpit and wheel bay. Set number 2033 also provides the cockpit and wheel bay but also adds three resin wheels and a port-side gun bay.

The resin parts are presented in grey coloured resin. Detail is very good - the single resin part for the main gear bay is especially noteworthy - and parts breakdown is quite straightforward.

The resin cockpit tubs, sidewalls and bulkhead are all noticeable improvements over the kit part.

Once the casting blocks are removed, the seat actually slides on the rails, so you can paint the parts separately and install the seat just before fitting the canopy if you wish.

The photoetched parts include the harness, instrument panel and smaller details.

The wheels are subtly bulged and flattened, and will be a direct replacement for the kit parts.

Either of Aires 1/32 scale Heinkel He 162 detail sets will spruce up Revell's Volksjager quite nicely. You just have to decide if you want the wheels and gun bay too!
