Many modellers complained about the lack of
separate slats when Tamiya released their version of the Me 262.
Modellers generally display their aircraft stationary on the ground, a
situation that would result in these items being extended.
With this release, Aires have produced a set of parts that will over
come Tamiya’s shortfall.
There are a total of eight resin parts, all of which are bubble free and
show fine detail.
The instructions clearly show the plastic that needs removing from the
wings and the how the resin items will replace it.
All of the contents were cast on plinths to make removal and cleanup as
easy as possible.
The packaging, while ok for less delicate items, was prone to allow the
breakage of the slat attachments. My example had two of these to repair
and it required a steady hand with CA glue.
Don’t be too alarmed if the slats appear slightly warped. Their thinness
makes it easy for them to be bent back in place after a dip in hot
water. In fact tacking them to their attachment points was enough to
straighten mine out in situ.
This is a good effort
from Aires and is one that will allow the modeller to display their
Me262 as is should be…slats extended.
Recommended.
