Black Box has supplied the following information for their forthcoming releases:

A few weeks ago, an “unofficial” poll was conducted on HyperScale's discussion board. A 1/32 scale cockpit set for the Revell Tornado was the most popular choice, so the Tornado set is in the works as of today.

You, the modeler, can be a valued asset in the making of this set. If you have extensive material covering the cockpit of this aircraft, please contact us at this email address. We can use all of the help we can get to make this the best cockpit it can be.

While the Tornado set was number one on the list, we admit that it will be pushed to second place when our test shot of the Academy 1/32 F/A-18C arrives. This is sure to be a big hit among 1/32 fans, as well as fans of the Hornet and Naval Aviation, and we want to have a cockpit set ready upon it’s release. We can guarantee it will be the most accurate F/A-18 cockpit on the market. The goal for both sets is late April, early May.

Following closely behind the 1/32 Hornet and Tornado cockpits, will be cockpit sets for the Tamiya 1/32 F-4E and Trumpeter 1/32 F-105D. Other sets in 1/32 scale will be for Tamiya’s 1/32 F-14, F-15C, and F-15E. Release dates to be announced.

In 1/48 scale, we will be bringing you the following full external detail sets:

Two sets are in the works for the F/A-18 Hornet. While both sets will share 98% of the same parts, one will include two new nose sections for the Monogram Hornet, and one will include two new nose sections for the Hasegawa Hornet.

Here is a break down of the parts that will be included in the Hornet sets:

  • Nose section – with screen mesh gun gas vents and 5 blade IFF antenna

  • Nose section – same as above but with open refueling probe

  • Swept back UHF/TACAN antenna x2

  • GPS dome

  • Forward nose wheel well bulkhead

  • SUU-63 wing pylon x4

  • SUU-62 centerline pylon x2 (early and late style)

  • BRU-32 bomb rack x6

  • BRU-33A/A CVER x2

  • LAU-115A/A x2

  • LAU-127 x4

  • Correct Fuel Tanks x2

  • One piece main wheels x2

  • AGM-154 JSOW x2

Originally, we were going to release one set with a new nose section for both the Monogram and Hasegawa kits. However, realizing that there are a lot of you out there that don’t have both kits (and may not want to buy both kits), we decided to provide two separate sets.

Following closely behind the Hornet sets, we will have a full exterior upgrade for the Revell-Monogram A-6E. This set will include many parts to upgrade your A-6E or upgrade/convert it to a KA-6D tanker.

Ordnance is yet to be decided (but we’re taking suggestions!)

Next up will be a complete update to bring your Monogram 1/48 A-10 Warthog up to today’s latest configuration with all of the necessary LASTE modifications. Ordnance will include two LAU-68 2.75 inch 7 shot rocket pods, the DRA for the AIM-9, and two CBU-87.
