Cutting Edge Modelworks continue their journey through the early X-Planes
with this set which is designed to convert the 1/32 scale Revell Bell X-1
The set consist of eleven resin parts, ten in Cutting Edge's excellent
mid-grey resin and one in clear resin.
The mid-grey parts comprise:
All parts are superbly cast and exhibit crisp detail. The
trailing edges of the wings are dead straight and appropriately thin. The
resin canopy does exhibit some tiny bubbles but these are confined to the
centre of the upper rear portion that will, thankfully, be painted over
and not pose a problem.
are assisted through the conversion by the instruction sheet that provides
both the written word and clear black and white photographs of an actual
conversion in progress.
The resin parts are contained in two separate zip loc bags and these, as
well as the instruction sheet, are packed into Cutting Edge's stout black
and yellow box.
Be aware that you will also need to purchase (separately) the Cutting Edge
X-1E decal sheet CED32041 to complete the conversion. This sheet has been
previously reviewed here on HyperScale and can be found here.
The conversion task is not all that onerous but will require some careful
measuring and cutting. It is not for the faint hearted but careful and
methodical work will be rewarded by a stunning model.
Thanks to Meteor Productions for the review sample.
