CEC32122 from Cutting Edge Modelworks is a 1/32 scale resin
Martin-Baker ejection seat that has been cast without belts. You can use
this seat as to reproduce either an SJU-5/6 or a SJU-9/10 – check your
references!
The seat is cast in Cutting Edge’s mid grey resin and faithfully
reproduces the full-sized seat. The casting is a beautifully done and
there are no pinholes in my example. Flash is very minimal and can be
taken care of with a sharp modelling knife and sandpaper
The seat is packed in Cutting Edge’s normal manner of a small clear
plastic zip-loc bag and cardboard header.

Whilst Cutting Edge has done an excellent job in their rendition
however, the limitations of the casting process means that you will have
to scratch build and add the centre pull actuation handle yourself. Should
you wish to really go to town and add even more detail visit the The
Ejection Site at
http://users.bestweb.net/~kcoyne/sju56aseat.htm where there are some
great full colour pics to help you with this as well as guiding your
painting.
Why has Cutting Edge produced the seat without the belts? The answer to
that question is - so you have a choice. Not all modellers like the style
of cast-in belts. For those who do like cast-on belts, Cutting Edge
also provides this option as CEC32120.
Recommended.
