Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Bf 109G-10 and K-4 kits come equipped with the
long tail wheel strut typical for these variants, but the strut is
moulded with the wheel as a single part. With careful painting this area
does not look too bad, but Cutting Edge has an alternate solution.
Cutting Edge has released a 1/32 scale resin tail wheel with separate
white metal extended strut. The resin wheel is very well detailed, and
is also subtly bulged and flattened. The hole for the axle is well
defined with an indentation on each side of the wheel. I would suggest
drilling this hole through prior to assembly. The white metal strut is
pretty much ready to use straight out of the bag. Positioning the wheel
between the flexible metal forks will be a simple exercise.
This accessory will also be welcomed by modellers who want to build a
1/32 scale Bf 109G-6 or G-14 that was fitted with the long tail wheel
strut, as Hasegawa does not include the long tailwheel part in these
kits. Similarly, anyone using the G-14 kit for the Cutting Edge 1/32
scale Bf 109G-10 Type 110 cowl conversion will find this a useful
addition to their project (but check your references as some of these
G-10s retained the old, short tail wheel strut.
Recommended.
