Meteor Productions announces their biggest ever conversion. Here is Cutting Edge's Press Release for this forthcoming conversion:

1/48 PB4Y-2 Privateer Major Conversion

for the Monogram B-24

Our set provides more than 100 resin parts and decals to convert the 1/48 Monogram B-24D or B-24J to the single-tail Navy PB4Y-2 Privateer.  This accurate and massive conversion set includes:

-         two complete fuselage halves

-         the Erco ball-type bow turret with clear resin windows

-         two Erco waist blister turrets with clear resin windows

-         an additional Martin top turret (to augment the top turret included in the Monogram kit)

-         four precise engine cowlings

-         four engines

-         four engine nacelles

-         four Privateer props

-         white metal nose and main landing gear

-         all RCM and radar radomes

-         interior bulkheads, floors, etc.

-         and more

Special features of our kit:

-         Either the Monogram B-24D or B-24J kit may be used; only the top and tail turrets, wings, and miscellaneous detail parts will be used from the Monogram kit.

-         The Erco waist blister turrets have nine parts each!

-         Full fabric ribbing detail is beautifully executed on the rudder and elevators.

-         The pilots’ canopy is of the proper depth (the Monogram canopy is too shallow)

-         Bow and waist turrets will rotate if you wish.

-         Kit decals include the national insignia and nose art for one aircraft, “Ol Blunderbuss”/Y564 of VPB-121.  Please note that a number of famous Privateers, such as “Easy Maid,” were produced with the Consolidated A-6 tail turret mounted in the nose, rather than the Erco ball-type nose turret included in our kit.

Two PYN-up Decals sheets covering four aircraft will be available separately at the same time the kit is released:

In addition, we’re including a BONUS decal for a machine gun-toting cherub seen in a clear photo of the left waist blister turret on an unknown Privateer.  OK, we don’t know which plane this was, but the art is too cool to leave off the decals!

We will consider at a future time whether to release the Privateer PYN-up Decals in 1/72.  Demand will be the major determinant.

The PB4Y-2 kit and PYN-up Decals are expected to be released in mid-May (just in time to have one built up for the IPMS-USA Nationals!

Advance interest preorders may be made to Meteor Productions (suppor@meteorprod.com); you will be contacted before we ship to confirm pricing and shipping details.
