FirstLook

Contact Résine latest super detailing set continues their commitment to large scale modelling with their biggest release to date. This cockpit set completely replaces the front office in Trumpeter's 1/24 scale Fw 190D-9.

Contact  Résine's Dora cockpit comprises six parts in pale yellow coloured resin, one photo-etched fret, printed instruments and a clear sheet for the instrument lenses.

The resin parts are cleverly cast with much detail already in place. The cockpit tub is especially impressive, with a myriad of structural detail cast onto this big chunk of resin including switches, fuses, oxygen regulator, hoses, electrical cabling and rudder posts.

A nicely detailed separate rear deck is also supplied. The control column is a great improvement over the fat underdetailed kit part, and the instrument panel looks great.

The photo-etched fret includes separate bezels for the engine instruments. This is a nice idea that will make precise painting easier, especially for the yellow and red surrounds. The instrument panel sandwich is completed with printed instruments and a sheet of clear acetate that may be used to represent instrument lenses.

The photo-etched fret also includes a full harness and rudder pedals.

Instructions are supplied on one side of an A4 sheet, using colour photos and brief text in both French and English. The instructions are quite straightforward, as is the overall design and parts breakdown of this impressive detail set.

Conclusion

Trumpeter's 1/32 scale Dora is quite a nice kit, but its cockpit is certainly lacklustre for a model this big. Contact Resine's multimedia cockpit will totally transform this area.

Detail is superb, construction does not look difficult, casting is world class and the set will be highly visible through the large cockpit opening.

If you are planning to build Trumpeter's 1/24 scale Fw 190D-9, Contact Resine's cockpit will be a very welcome enhancement. Now, all you will need to do is fill the engine cowl hinge lines, scribe them straight, remove the detail from the inside of the gear doors and you will have a very nice, very big, Dora!

Highly Recommended.
