Scaledown’s latest F-111 accessory is set SDA48005 – EF-111A Upgrade Set.

This set is destined for the Academy 1/48 scale EF-111. Although Scaledown notes that the parts also fit the Zhengdefou kit, I would strongly recommend that the Academy kit is used as the Zhengdefou offering will need an awful lot of cleanup, surface improvement and detail replacement.

The EF-111A Upgrade Set includes new undercarriage doors, the radar canoe pod. All the parts are supplied in resin. The undercarriage doors are better detailed than the kit parts (inside and out), and are the correct depth. The canoe pod features the asymmetrical forward section corresponding with the nose gear door, and the correct shape and undercut at the rear.

All parts on my sample were perfectly cast and ready to use. There were no casting blocks or plugs on any of the parts.

This simple and accurate Upgrade Set offers a subtle but noticeable improvement to these characteristic areas of the EF-111A.
