FirstLook

One of the few ongoing problems with Hasegawa's 1/32 scale family of Focke-Wulf Fw 190s is the shape of the gun cowl part. The kit part has a definite case of the Dolly Partons - exaggerated "cleavage" between the bulges.

Eagle Editions has a new offering that will quickly and easily correct this problem without the need for reduction surgery. Their 1/32 scale Fw 190A Corrected Gun Cowl is a single resin part that will simply replace its kit counterpart. The Eagle Editions cowl includes the small domes on top of the main bumps, which are missing on the kit cowl.

I also prefer Eagle Editions' more three-dimensional treatment of the latch fastener detail on the sides of the cowl.

The casting block should not present any problems. A few careful minutes with a razor saw will release the part.

Eagle Editions' 1/32 scale Fw 190A Corrected Cowl will be suitable for the Fw 190A-7, A-8 or A-9 variants. Check your references carefully for the correct positioning of the latch fasteners, as the A-7 had the rearmost fastener in the lower position (so you'll have to fill the rearmost fastener rectangle if you are building an A-7).

This is a simple and quick correction that will improve the lines of your big Hasegawa Wurger.

Recommended.
