During the later part of the war the Germans employed more contractors as a means to relieve overstressed fabricators.

Wooden parts were replacing metal in many areas of aircraft construction due to shortage of raw materials, and one such area was the landing flaps on Fw 190 Dora aircraft. Some aircraft were fitted with red plywood landing flaps. Two such aircraft that were fitted with these types of flap were Fw 190 D-9 “Red 13” of JV 44 W. Nr. 213240 and Fw 190 D-13 Yellow 10 W. Nr. 8300017.

Beautifully moulded in light grey resin Eagle Editions has designed this set to replace the flaps on the Hasegawa 1/32 Scale Fw 190D kit. The flaps are a direct replacement of the kit parts with no cutting required but the modeller will have to remove the flaps by carefully cutting off the casting blocks. The detail on the resin parts is very subtle but nicely done.

The red plywood is represented as a decal and looks very realistic when compared to the colour photographs of the actual flap. Although there is some minor cutting of the resin parts from the casting blocks a novice modeller should be able to install this set.

Highly Recommended.
