Quickboost's 1/48 Scale American gunsights
will be available online from Squadron.com
What is the biggest hurdle about working with resin? The glues used? How
about the sawing and sanding? Potential health hazards? No, typically it
is the price.
Aires (the people who bring you the $90.00 Bf-109G-6 engine set) has the
solution. They have started a company that provides the modeler with low
cost upgrades with minimal cleanup. The benefit that you get is an easy
upgrade for minimal cost. This is company and it’s products are ideal
the modeler who wants to try their hand at resin without spending too
much to upgrade.
This set is designed for the Hasegawa F6F Hellcat in 1/48th scale. There
are only seven parts on three light grey resin sprues. The biggest part
is the engine itself, which is flawlessly cast with a minimal pour stub.
There is a firewall spacer, which can be removed with a swipe of the
knife blade. The only other things are resin magnetos and other small
items that fit the front of the engine.
This should be a direct replacement for the kit parts. The only thing
this set needs is a coat of paint and a wash. The look of the resin is
far superior to the kit offering.
The instruction sheet is the on a piece of cardboard that shows where
the magnetos go. There are no painting instructions.
I highly recommend this upgrade set to anyone who wants to add a little
extra to their model.
