Drilling out exhaust ports can be a pain in the....

Sometimes the shape or positioning of the plastic item will hinder the attempt at added detail.

One solution is supplied by Quickboost. They produce a resin copy of the appropriate kit part with the work done for you.

In this case it is a direct replacement for the Fw 190D-9 exhausts from the Tamiya kit.

The casting of these parts is excellent. All detail was sharp with not a trace of an air bubble anywhere. The openings were deeply cut thus providing an extremely realistic appearance. The attachment to the waste block will need care to remove but this is not beyond the modeller.

It appears my example had been squashed both during and after manufacture. The result of the former created distorted openings and strange angles to a number of exhaust stacks. The clear plastic bag also caused a couple of breakages but these were easily glued back on. Another means of packaging would be helpful.

Conclusion

These exhausts are a great way to enhance your “Dora”. The one-for-one replacement will allow both novice and expert to execute the change and the results are really worth it.

Highly recommended
