I know I have said this before, but I think these
Quickboost sets are the best resin castings I have ever seen. The finish
is so good that until you notice the casting blocks, you will think they
are injection moulded plastic. These two are simple sets with no
instructions required.
I confess that on first inspection of the Mustang exhausts, I wondered
why they had bothered as they look exactly the same as the kit parts,
and we all know how good Tamiya's moulding is. However, on closer
inspection I noticed that the pipes are all perfectly drilled out. Aha!
Just remove the casting blocks, clean up the under-side and they fit
straight in.
With a bit of modification, they could probably be used
on the Academy and Revell P-51 B/Cs as well.
The second set, for the Hasegawa F4F Wildcat, is the cowling with the
carburetor intake moved inside. This can be used to convert a Hasegawa
F4F-4 to the non-folding wing F4F-3 along with other mods. The only
disadvantage with this is that the cowling on the Hasegawa model is
moulded onto the fuselage halves so they have to be cut off. Other than
that, this conversion cowling will fit straight on after removing the
casting block and cleaning it up.
Highly Recommended.
