FirstLook

Quickboost continues their prolific release schedule with a number of simple, economical accessories in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales. Tonight we take a look at some of the latest releases in 1/72 scale.

All the sets are perfectly cast in grey resin, with minimal cleanup required. Each set has been designed with a minimum of parts, and should be very straightforward to assemble.

The latest batch of 1/72 scale Quickboost releases are as follows:

QB 72 007 - PBY-5A Catalina Corrected Cowlings

A simple resin replacement for the engine cowlings of Academy's 1/72 scale Catalina kits. The one-piece cowls are pictured at the top of this page.

QB 72 043 - Messerschmitt Bf 109 K Air Intake and Tail Wheel

A simple, two-piece accessory set for Heller's old but basically accurate 1/72 scale Kurfurst.

QB 72 044 - Spitfire IX Three spoke main wheel

A simple resin replacement for the main wheels of any 1/72 scale Spitfire with three-spoke wheels.

QB 72 045 - Beaufighter Porcupine Exhausts I

Crisply detailed replacement exhausts for Hasegawa's 1/72 scale Beaufighter, vastly superior to the underdetailed kit parts. Each tiny exhaust outlet is hollow. This is a real must for anyone building a 1/72 scale Beaufighter with the Hedgehog exhaust.

QB 72 046 - F4F-4 Wildcat Engine

A simple but beautifully detailed replacement for the engine in Academy's Wildcat kit. Magneto detail is supplied separately, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition harness from rod and wire (if desired).

QB 72 047 - Fw 190 A-3 Exhausts

A drop-fit, better detailed replacement with hollowed out stacks for the exhausts in Tamiya's early Wurger.

QB 72 056 - PBY-1/5 Catalina Engines

Two, one piece replacement for the engines in the Academy Catalia kits. Cooling fins on the cylinders and crankcase detail is excellent, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition wiring. Nobody would blame you if you did not attempt it in this scale though! A very nice addition to these small scale PBYs.

QB 72 057 - Japanese WWII Gunsights Type 100

QB 72 058 - B-25H Mitchell Gun Barrels

QB 72 059 - S2F-1 Tracker Engines

Two, one piece replacement for the engines in the Hasegawa S2F kit. Cooling fins on the cylinders and crankcase detail is excellent, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition wiring. Nobody would blame you if you did not attempt it in this scale though! A very nice addition to these small scale Trackers.

QB 72 060 - P-39Q/N Airacobra Exhausts

QB 72 061 - P-51A Engine

A one-piece, drop in engine bay for the starboard side, and matching exhausts for the port side. Very nice detail for this scale, and simple to install once the engine cowling has been carefully removed from the Academy kit fuselage.
