Quickboost continues their prolific release schedule with a number of simple, economical accessories in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales. Tonight we take a look at some of the latest releases in 1/48 scale.

All the sets are perfectly cast in grey resin, with minimal cleanup required. Each set has been designed with a minimum of parts, and should be very straightforward to assemble.

The latest batch of 1/48 scale Quickboost releases are as follows:

QB 48 053 - P-36A Hawk Engine

 

 

This is a simple, two-piece replacement for the Academy kit. Cooling fins on the cylinders and crankcase detail is excellent, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition wiring. Aires has thoughtfully provided fairly deep holes for the pushrods in the top of the cylinders, making this task easy to achieve with some brass wire. A new resin mount for the engine is also supplied, which should simplify installation.


QB 48 055 - P-61 Black Widow Engines

 

 

A eleven-piece, beautifully detailed replacement for the engines in Monogram's Black Widow kit. Magneto detail is supplied separately, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition harness from rod and wire (if desired).


QB 48 056 - P-47D Thunderbolt Engine

This is a simple replacement for the Academy kit. Cooling fins on the cylinders and crankcase detail is excellent, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition wiring. Aires has thoughtfully provided fairly deep holes for the pushrods in the top of the cylinders, making this task easy to achieve with some brass wire. A second large resin part acts as a new base for the engine


QB 48 057 - B-26 Marauder Engines

 

 

A ten-piece, beautifully detailed replacement for the engines in Monogram's Marauder kit. Magneto detail is supplied separately, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition harness from rod and wire (if desired).


QB 48 061 - PBY-5 Catalina Engines

A two-piece, simple yet well detailed replacement for the engines in Monogram's PBY-5 kit. You will have to add your own pushrods and ignition harness from rod and wire (if desired)


QB 48 062 - A-26B/C Invader Engines

 

 

A twelve-piece, beautifully detailed replacement for the engines and cowl flaps in Monogram's Invader kit. The thin resin cowl flaps have exhaust detail cast in place - just gorgeous! Magneto detail is supplied separately, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition harness from rod and wire (if desired).


QB 48 063 - Spitfire F.Mk. 22/24 Exhausts

A drop-fit replacement for the exhausts in the Airfix 1/48 scale Spitfire 22/24 kit. The exhaust stacks are all hollowed out at the ends, and the parts are connected to the casting block via a thin strip


QB 48 064 - Spitfire F.Mk. 22 Cannon Barrels

Long cannon barrels for replacing the kit items in the Airfix 1/48 scale Spitfire 22/24 kit.

QB 48 073 - Spitfire Mk.I Empty Sheet Case Chute

Nice deep shell ejector ports for the bottom of the Tamiya Spitfire Mk.I wing. Unlike most Quickboost releases, this one will require some precise cutting and is better suited for experienced modellers.

This is a simple five-piece replacement for the ARII/Otaki/Airfix kit engine. This is an older but still creditable model, but the engine desperately needs replacement, so Quickboost's resin item is very welcome. Cooling fins on the cylinders and crankcase detail is excellent, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition wiring. Aires has thoughtfully provided fairly deep holes for the pushrods in the top of the cylinders, making this task easy to achieve with some brass wire.


QB 48 077 - P-400 Airacobra Exhausts (for Hasegawa)

A drop-fit replacement for the exhausts in the Hasegawa 1/48 scale P-400 Airacobra kit. The exhaust stacks are all hollowed out at the ends, and the parts are connected to the casting block via a thin strip
