Schatton-Modellbau produces a range of metal gun barrels and accessories in various scales for armour and aircraft models. This new release is designed to convert the Revell 1/72 scale Arado Ar 240 into the proposed version fitted with the powerful 7.5cm BK 7.5 Bordkanone.

The big 7.5cm cannon is the focal point of this variant. Schatton-Modellbau's 1/72 scale cannon barrel is supplied as a single part in machined brass. The holes in the muzzle brake are precisely drilled, and the entire barrel is very crisply presented.

No preparation is required for the barrel - it is ready to install.

The resin parts are also well done. These comprise the large housing under the nose, and a replacement cockpit floor with the re-loader. Some guesswork will have to be made when rearranging the rear cockpit configuration - this was a paper project, not a completed prototype, so nobody will be able to prove you wrong! Cleanup will be quite easy. The housing is attached to its casting block with three fine resin strips, while the cockpit floor will need to be sanded flat on the underside before installation.

Casting quality is first rate, with no imperfections on my sample.

 

 

Conclusion

 

Schatton-Modellbau's 1/72 scale 7.5cm BK 7.5 Bordkanone Conversion for Arado Ar 240 will make a big difference to the appearance of the standard Revell kit. Some experience will be helpful for this conversion, but it should be within the skill range of the average modeller.
