This detail set from Polish accessory company Part is designed
for the Roden 1/48 scale Sopwith 1½ Strutter, Single Seat Bomber version.
Two frets of photo etched parts and one printed acetate sheet
makes up this set.
The first thing to grab the attention is the large photo-etched
structural frame for the fuselage interior. This is a big single part which
folds to form the interior sidewall framing, the floor and the top fuselage
frames. This is very impressive. A replacement seat is also included -
especially welcome as the kit seat is too wide for the fuselage. A lap harness
will finish this piece off. Printed acetate instruments are sandwiched to form
part of a detailed, multi-media instrument panel.
The other major focus is attachment points for rigging. Although
some care and skill will be required to position and secure these tiny parts,
they will ensure a realistic (and somewhat easier) rigging result.
The spoked wheel rims, ignition harness and other details will
add even more life to the very accurate Roden airframe.
WWI modellers should love this detail set. Due to the complex
folding, the trimming and kit preparation, the very large number of small parts and the additional rigging work
required, this set will be most appropriate for WWI modellers with some
experience of working with photo-etch.
Highly Recommended.
