Interestingly, Vic Scheuerman (IPMS Canada) wrote a
two-part article on the Canadian built Hurricane that appeared in the December
2003 and January 2004 issues of Scale Aircraft Modeling. In the second part,
Vic showed how a 1/48 Hasegawa MK. IIB Hurricane could become a Canadian Mk.
XII. Vic used a number of ULTRACAST parts, including the
early style exhaust. But for the gear housing face and prop, Vic had to do
a little “scratch work” and slightly modify a Monogram B-17 prop.
Now, not every modeler has a Monogram B-17 (Note: I
believe the Monogram B-24 prop is the same.), or is willing to sacrifice one
prop to make a Canadian Mk. XII. ULTRACAST, with this release, clearly has
obviated the need to beg, borrow or even steal one.
The set has the prop hub, blades and a nicely done gear
housing face; all designed to work with the available Hasegawa kit. It appears
that the most difficult part of this conversion is removing the parts from the
pour stubs. These are but mere replacements for the kit parts.

I highly recommend this set to all 1/48 scale modelers.
It will turn an ordinary looking Mk. II Hurricane into something a bit
different, odd even.
But I cannot seem to deal with this subject without
making a request. Vic, if you are out there reading this, how about
resubmitting the article to HyperScale? I believe many would enjoy finding out
about how the Canadian Sky and other colors differed from those of England.
Highly Recommended.
